The Hispanic Market:
The Hispanic Market is the fastest growing consumer segment in the US. The Hispanic population of 57 million is expected to double by 2050 and expenditures by Hispanic food shoppers will reach $86 billion in 2018. Hispanics tend to make more frequent trips to the grocery store and spend more per month on food than the general population. They are increasingly seeking out healthy alternatives.
In 2013, at the request of a Hispanic distributor, David’s Unforgettables created a Hispanic label for their Low Fat Balsamic Vinaigrette, and introduced the dressing in half a dozen Superior Grocery stores. The dressing caught on and by the end of the year we were in all 50 Superior’s stores, and expanding into Northgate Markets. In 2015, we added the Balsamic Soy Ginger and the Balsamic Thousand Island. At the urging of Superior’s grocery management, these flavors were introduced with the English labels. We wanted a ‘crossover’ with ‘brand’ identification.
We believe David’s Unforgettables is well positioned to take advantage of the growing Hispanic market.
